As the scouting year comes near to an end the 2nd Offaly group are busy preparing for annual camps. Our beaver section are heading off to Clara Lara for a day of fun and games, our cub section have already completed their camp at Heroes on the Hill, Larch Hill. The scouts are heading off to Ruan in Co. Claire while the venturers are spending a week in Castlesaunderson.
2nd Offaly leaders have been very busy with training in the last number of months with 6 leaders completing their stage 3, 2 completing stage 4, 3 stage 5 and 2 attending stage 6 in Navan at the weekend. Well done to all giving up their time to do their best by the scouts in their care.
The Venturers, Rovers and 3 scouts held a Mad Hatters Tea Party on the 7th of June 2014 in the scout den. The tea party was a resounding success with over 80 attending on the night. For weeks prior to the event the sections worked together to create large wall decorations, create a tree in the entrance along with key holes on each of the large door ways. Tables were decorated and everyone enjoyed selection of sandwiches along with scrumptious desserts such as cheesecake, pavlova, apple tarts etc. The venturers hope to make this an annual event with a different theme next year.
