This is where we will keep parents and guardians posted about what’s happening, so there will always be a place to find the information when notes go astray, so it’s worth checking here regularly, especially if you know there’s a trip or event coming up soon.
Subs
Subs are €3 a week, and must be paid even when your child misses a week. If your child misses more than 3 weeks in a row without reason they are considered to have left Beavers.
Savings
Did you know we operate a savings scheme where you can save money every week towards the cost of events and camps? A little saved each week mounts up surprisingly over time.
Who can join Beavers?
Beaver Scouts are for boys and girls aged 6 – 8.
When are the Beaver meetings?
We meet on Wednesdays from 19:00 – 20:30. We meet in Jim Kirwan Scout Hall, on Bridge Street, Clara
See where we are on Google Maps & Street View
Uniform
Beavers must wear their uniforms (the bright blue Beaver jumper, 2nd Offaly’s neckerchief and a woggle, all of which must be bought), dark coloured trousers and dark shoes. When we are doing particularly messy things we’ll let the beavers know they should bring something old to cover up with.
Child safety
As a parent it’s natural that you would want to be assured of their child’s safety and welfare wherever they are. Scouting Ireland are committed to ensuring that our youth members learn, develop and have fun in a safe and secure environment. We would like to assure you that 2nd Offaly are committed to the processes put in place in line with the child protection, recruitment and selection policies and procedures as outlined on the Scouting Ireland website (‘Code of Good Practice’) All new applicant Scouters go through a vetting process. Applicant Scouters must provide 2 references and must go through formal police checking (Garda Vetting or Access Northern Ireland checking). In addition, all new Scouters must undertake a child protection training course during their Induction period. This training is accredited and monitored by the National Youth Council of Ireland.
Scouting Ireland is a registered organisation with the Garda Central Vetting Unit in Thurles, Co Tipperary and with Access Northern Ireland in Belfast, Co Antrim.
