In the first of a series of Sunday hikes, cubs stayed close to home. The weather was largely against us and we had to do our cooking indoors on gas burners while we waited for the worst of the weather to pass over. Cubs have learned that they can cook rashers, sausages and eggs for themselves after all, and that they taste better when you do it yourself 
Braving the weather our reduced group learned about the importance of landmarks for naviagation and put their compasses to good use. All the cubs were given log notebooks to keep track of things they learned on the day.
